1.1 The Sales Procedure

This section will give you a brief overview about the sales process. A typical sales process involves leads, potentials, customer accounts, contacts, quotes, sales orders and invoices. To use the sales management function of TDS CRM, each member of the sales team and their managers must have a user account to access the system. Lead generation is usually the first step of the sales process. Leads can be generated from several sources such as marketing campaigns, trade shows, advertisements, etc. The information about these leads is entered in to the TDS CRM system. Leads are assigned to the particular user or group of users as per the rules of the organization. The assigned users or groups of users then work upon the leads with the goal of converting the leads in to regular customers. For the sake of this goal, they may indulge in gathering information about leads; communicate with the leads via calls, meetings and other activities. They can use the TDS CRM system to manage and keep track of all these activities. When a lead is qualified to be a potential by the sales team, it is converted in to potential, account and contact in the CRM along with all the details such as product, deal value, target dates, activity history, etc. Now the sales person may have to work again for the potential to make a sale. He will again use the CRM system to track and manage the activities performed for converting the potential in to a customer. In this phase, he may need to generate one or more quotes for the prospected customer. Once the quote is approved by the customer, a sales order is generated in the CRM for guaranteed tracking and delivery of the product. After this, an invoice is generated in the CRM and send to the customer. The sales procedure may vary from organization to organization, but a typical sales process involves the above mentioned steps. There may be variations in the qualification criteria for a lead to be converted in to the potential, but overall the process is more or less same.
